I really love the scouting program!
I love that it teaches "man skills."
I love that it encourages goal setting, and pushes boys to reach higher.
I love the great scout leaders we have had who are mentors and influences for good in the lives of the young men they lead.
Caleb is raising money so he can attend the national Boy Scout Jamboree in 2017. He spent many hours going door to door, selling flag subscriptions. Sometimes Jonah helped him. Is that the cutest little helper you've ever seen???
So now every national holiday, Jeff or I get to drive him around in the morning to set up flags, and then again in the evening to take them down.
Every time I go with Caleb, I watch him do his job and think about how much I love scouts. Caleb is a really, really good kid. He is growing up to be confident, trustworthy and capable. We owe a lot of that to scouts.
I hope that his little brothers will follow in his footsteps, and let the skills and values taught in the scouting program influence their lives as well. Jonah is off to a good start! ;)
