My inspiration for this record of my days:

“The biggest mistake I made [as a parent] is the one that most of us make. . . . I did not live in the moment enough. This is particularly clear now that the moment is gone, captured only in photographs. There is one picture of [my three children] sitting in the grass on a quilt in the shadow of the swing set on a summer day, ages six, four, and one. And I wish I could remember what we ate, and what we talked about, and how they sounded, and how they looked when they slept that night. I wish I had not been in such a hurry to get on to the next thing: dinner, bath, book, bed. I wish I had treasured the doing a little more and the getting it done a little less” -Anna Quindlen

Another driver

This happened today:

Caleb got his drivers permit!  We were both pretty pleasantly surprised that he passed the test the first time- since he had never actually read the manual.  He drove us home and did a great job!

He also started working for my brother in law Doug this summer.  He rides along with the AC technicians and helps where he's needed.  Hopefully he is paying close attention so that someday he will have the skills to be a tech himself.  The long hours in the heat have been taking a toll on him though.  After his second day of work he came home and fell asleep at 3:00 in the afternoon.  I could NOT get him to wake up until 9:00 the next morning!  Poor guy!

In other news:
Eli has started including this phrase in all of his prayers:  "Please bless dat nothing may accidentally fall upon us."  I'm pretty sure it's taken from the more popular "Please bless that no harm or accident may fall upon us."  Ha!  What will I do when I don't have silly little ones around anymore?
