My inspiration for this record of my days:

“The biggest mistake I made [as a parent] is the one that most of us make. . . . I did not live in the moment enough. This is particularly clear now that the moment is gone, captured only in photographs. There is one picture of [my three children] sitting in the grass on a quilt in the shadow of the swing set on a summer day, ages six, four, and one. And I wish I could remember what we ate, and what we talked about, and how they sounded, and how they looked when they slept that night. I wish I had not been in such a hurry to get on to the next thing: dinner, bath, book, bed. I wish I had treasured the doing a little more and the getting it done a little less” -Anna Quindlen

The List

Jonah has been working on his Christmas list.  Every time he begs for some fabulous thing he sees on a commercial or in the store, I tell him, “Maybe you can ask for that for Christmas.”  The assumption was that he would forget them all before that time.

Yesterday he decided to make his list official.  Here it is:

jonahs list

I’ll translate.

-pillow pet

-big ball

-Wand-o-rama

-big bag of candy

-punching bag

The bottom says “List.  Ho Ho Ho.  Merry Christmas.”

I love this learning to write stage!

  1. Darling!
On the pillow pet note- we've joked in our family that soft momma's are better so my kids have sung
    "It's a mommy, it's a pillow, it's a mommy PIllow!"
Do you can scratch the pillow pet off the list, he has something better.
