My inspiration for this record of my days:

“The biggest mistake I made [as a parent] is the one that most of us make. . . . I did not live in the moment enough. This is particularly clear now that the moment is gone, captured only in photographs. There is one picture of [my three children] sitting in the grass on a quilt in the shadow of the swing set on a summer day, ages six, four, and one. And I wish I could remember what we ate, and what we talked about, and how they sounded, and how they looked when they slept that night. I wish I had not been in such a hurry to get on to the next thing: dinner, bath, book, bed. I wish I had treasured the doing a little more and the getting it done a little less” -Anna Quindlen

Follow your nose

It makes me really nervous when people walk in and say “It smells like the Davis house in here.”  I mean, I know that every house and family has their own distinctive smell, and it’s usually not a bad thing.  But I’m pretty sure that the smell of my house is NOT a good one.

The last couple of days I have noticed a worse than usual smell brewing around the kitchen.  I followed my nose to the refrigerator… definitely the culprit!

I took out the most likely offenders, sauerkraut, aging chili, and a liquefied cucumber in the deepest corner of the vegetable drawer.  And still the mystery smell grows stronger…

  2. It's probaly a dead potato. Those things smell like DEATH! Or it could be a dead onion - those aren't good either. We had a cat once that crawled into a box and died and we didn't know it. It was so bad we ripped up our laundry room floor to find it. Good luck and I wish you all the best ( I hope it's not a cat)
