My inspiration for this record of my days:

“The biggest mistake I made [as a parent] is the one that most of us make. . . . I did not live in the moment enough. This is particularly clear now that the moment is gone, captured only in photographs. There is one picture of [my three children] sitting in the grass on a quilt in the shadow of the swing set on a summer day, ages six, four, and one. And I wish I could remember what we ate, and what we talked about, and how they sounded, and how they looked when they slept that night. I wish I had not been in such a hurry to get on to the next thing: dinner, bath, book, bed. I wish I had treasured the doing a little more and the getting it done a little less” -Anna Quindlen

Chaos

You know that scientific theory that states that everything in the Universe is always drifting toward chaos?  I would like to submit my household as evidence that it is true!

No matter how hard I work, or how fast I run, I cannot possibly keep up with the rate at which things unravel around here.

Who am I that I should stand against the forces of nature?

Sometimes I feel powerless.

  1. amen sistah!
    last night- while spending way way WAY too much time on that other blog with all the dresses... my oldest son says, "mom. there is something wrong with the dishwasher door." then he walks upstairs.

    I dismiss it, thinking.. .he just couldn't get it latched or something...

    so around 11 when I finally pry my eyes away from the blog.. and I causally go into the kitchen to finish up the dinner dishes... (just inspect the damage- what needs to be washed now and what can soak til morning...)

    The entire door is laying on the floor! He pulled the whole dang door off!
    WHAT!<!!!<!<
    I storm into his room- while he is half asleep and question him! "What happened!?"

    He said in his defense... "I told you there was something wrong with it!" {Like that explains all...}

    {sigh}
    so looks like we get to learn the value of elbow grease.. until it gets fixed or replaced??? (i am hopeful)
